Free Widget

UserWay has a free version of its widget which comes with basic features so your website will be adjusted for usability functions and can comply with different accessibility laws and guidelines. Since this is a free version, some premium features are not available and would need a paid subscription to unlock these features. Nevertheless, the free widget is a good way to test out the plugin to see how it works on your website.

How to Install the Widget?

Installing the widget would greatly depend on the CMS or platform that you are using for your website. What’s great about UserWay is that they have user-friendly video tutorials and manual instructions on how to integrate the plugin for systems that they support.

If you’re using WordPress for example, you can choose to install the widget by following the video or just do it manually. Either way, it’s not that complicated but the standard installation is a lot faster since you’ll be able to get it running in just a few minutes. If your website has a lot of pages, then you’ll need to paste a specific code to these pages manually.

How to Install on WordPress

Here’s a basic step-by-step guide on how to install the UserWay widget on WordPress:

  1. Access the WordPress admin site and go to the Plugins
  2. Search for “UserWay” and then click on “Install”.
  3. After the installation is done, activate the plugin.
  4. Acess the Settings menu and click on the UserWay tab.
  5. Sign-up for an account and then save the changes.
  6. You now have an account and will be able to configure the widget.

Where to Place the Code?

If you don’t want to follow the standard installation, UserWay can provide you with a basic code that you just need to insert on your website. If you’re going to do it manually with plain vanilla HTML, JavaScript or CSS, keep in mind that you will need to paste this code in every single HTML file of your website.

To do this, you need to edit each file, scroll all the way down to the body closing tag </body>, and paste the code there.

Management Area

The widget’s management area is basically the dashboard where you can configure the settings and most of the widget features, access your account, and many more. If you have a paid subscription, then you will be able to gain access to the full suite of customization and accessibility options.

To access the management area, simply click the live widget on your website and click on “Manage”.

How to Move Widget Location?

By default, UserWay’s widget icon is placed at the upper right corner of the website but you’ll have the choice of placing it on a different location. As of this writing, there are 8 choices.

To configure the location placement of the widget, go to the live widget on your website, click on “Manage” and sign-in with your account credentials. Then, click on “Change the button location” and choose the preferred location. Lastly, click on “Apply to Sites”.

How to Customize the Widget?

The accessibility widget can be customized according to your preferences so you can tailor it more for your target users. You have the option to customize the widget’s color, icon, size, remove the UserWay branding and add your own, or change the menu.

In order to do this, you just need to access the live widget on your website and then click on “Manage”. Take note that you need to be signed-in to your account to be able to access the widget settings. Once you are logged in, you will be able to configure everything from this menu. You’ll have all the available options to customize the widget according to your own likings.

Widget Not Working

In most cases, the UserWay widget works on any website but if by chance it’s not loading or functioning properly, the best action to take is to uninstall and reinstall the widget. If in case you’re still having problems making the widget work, then next option is to contact the UserWay technical support to assist you with your concern and resolve your issues.

How to Remove the Widget?

If you’ve decided to remove the UserWay widget on your website, you can quickly do this by disabling or uninstalling the plugin via your CMS. This is the easiest option as this will automatically remove the widget from your site. You can also do a manual removal of the codes that you got from UserWay but this might take more time if you placed it one by one on all the pages.
